He felt as if he were a puppet being pulled around on strings. In his mind, he knew that he had been dead for numerous centuries, so why was he walking among the tombstones now? Wandering aimlessly with no real sense of purpose? Karise could feel the change in his blood. Why wouldn't he? So what if he had been laying in the ground dormant.

Letting his fingertips brush against the edge of a grave stone, he opened the telepathic link that all Sire's and their Children shared, and he called out to his only Daughter.

Darkasha. His voice was a breathy whisper in the back of her mind, and he sent her a flash of an image, a hint of where he was. Times had changed so much since he had been here and he was well and truly lost.

"You really think very loudly. Ever try toning it down?" Asher's voice echoed throughout the cemetary.

"Darkasha. Darkasha." He murmured. Asher was one of the oldest of vampires but wasn't chosen to lead a bloodline. No, he would only lead a bloodline if Vangelo was sleeping, and they needed someone to maintain the feirce sounds of their name. The very thing instilled fear, it was what they were best known for. "She was...very virgorous."

With that he grinned lazily towards Karise. Dante never got along with the other vampire but still liked to poke his fun at him every now and then.

"Dante." The Elder Spectral member reguarded the Vega with dispassion. To be quite frank, Karise had never liked the man and never trust him as far as he could throw him. "The ever present leech."

He stopped moving a respectable distance away from the Vega. "Why are you here and not looking out for Draven? Has she kicked you to the curb so soon?" Karise never liked the fact that Dante was always sniffing around Draven's heels. The poor woman wasn't allowed even on moments peace as it was. Or hadn't been in the past. Hopefully times have changed. "I trust Dasani is still keeping up his end of the deal and keeping you away from her?"

"Leach? Well isn't that quite the hypocritical thing to say to me?" Dante tucked his hands into the pants pockets as he leaned comfortably against a random tombstone. Probably someone of their bloodlines but what did he care?

"I hear Draven kicked you to the curb a long, long, long time ago." Dante's smiled became rather arrogent. "Its too bad you could never measure up, at least she keeps me in favor."

He sighed and looked towards the Spectral elder. He didn't respect him and mocked him quite often at the Elder meetings.
"That's why she made me Head of Security. So technically I work for number one, and you are probably number five..."

In all reality, after Savora's death, Draven had retreated to Romania for some much needed "rest". She hadn't slept long, and found herself back in Sanguine. Quietly, she had appeared behind Asher, using the same rifting ability that all Dimensia had.

"You may be Head of Security, Asher, darling, but that doesn't technically make you looking out for number one. You are being paid to look out for all of us, and that includes Karise despite the fact if you like him or not."

Much had changed since anyone had last seen her. It was as if her beauty had improved ten fold. Her skin had taken on a more grayish tint, much like the Acontinum Bloodline. The pattern of veins beneath her skin, however, were black not gray. Her eyes were not even more alluring, always changing from neon green to such a pale green they were almost white. Draven's long black hair was even longer, reaching to the backs of her knees. She kept it loose this evening and just as wild as if she had just finished a round of really good sex. They all know that she hadn't, but it was the power of appearance, was it not?

Draven turned to Karise and let her eyes roam over his torn and dirty clothing. "Dasani, I'm afraid Karise, is no longer with us. His demise was unexpected and unfortunate. He will be missed by all and viewed as a Montriarch to our kind. Welcome home, Karise."

The smile that lit Karise's expression was genuine. Centuries ago, he and Draven had been close friends. Despite his best efforts at seducing her, she had always turned him down with the utmost respect and he had honored her decision. It didn't mean he tried any less, of course. Karise was when they called a "ladies man". The women flocked to him like a moth to a flame, and he flaunted it. That was until he had met Darkasha.

"I am saddened to hear of our brother Dasani's death. You are correct, Draven. He will be missed greatly among our kind and viewed as nothing short of a God."

For the moment, Karise had forgotten that Dante was there. His cyan eyes were rivited on Draven.

"My, how you have changed. The Ascention?" He questioned, taking in the near god-like beauty of the creature before him. "I had thought at one point that you couldn't get even more beautiful. Apparently, I was wrong."

He turned his gaze away from her for a moment, and glanced around at his surroundings. "I see the Vermillion Cemertary still stands." He turned back and offered a small smile. "How has Darkasha been fairing among the Council?"

"And tell me, how am I supposed to do that job when you refuse to let me make accomodations for everyone's safety when you keep breaking every rule I set up to ensure their safety?" His question popped.

His presence was forgotten. "Do I need to leave so you two can have privacy. By the way, Karise, your beloved daughter Darkasha is very well. I have been with her for the last fortnight." His smile only became more arrogent when he crossed his arms and laid on a tombstone.

Karise growled and the gesutre was certainly not Human. "Watch your tongue, fool, before I remove it from your vial mouth." If Draven hadn't caught him, he surely would have knocked the Vega into the next two centuries.

"Karise, be still. He is baiting you. Leave him be. He knows his job and he does it well."

Draven cast Dante a rather amusing glare. "You know, Karise, I have never known you to be the jealous type. It is quite amusing to see you so...upset over a women, when for centuries, all you have done was use them for your personal pleasures."

Karise couldn't help the smile that curled the corners of his mouth. "I bet you never saw this one coming, D."

"Not in a million years." She turned towards Dante then. "Dante, darling, escort me back home, will you? We shall let Karise get to know this City again."

Darkasha was a breath of winter and flowing copper tresses when she appeared at the edge of the cemetery. She had heard his voice, and she had come with all the speed her kind could afford. Her eyes, every tone of gold fluctuating in a firefly’s dance in that gaze, were haunted, perplexed.

It had hurt terribly, that so long unopened part of her mind had been left idle. Tearing anew the bonds she had presumed closed was jarring, even at the softest intonations.

The amber pools held universes of confusion as the genteel vitae stared across the cemetery at the familiar form of her sire. Her lips parted to present a single, perplexed word. “Karise?” she called, a songbird sound with soothing in every syllable. Such was the way of her bloodline.

She saw at his sides both Draven and Dante, and it seemed to be the only reliable source to say she was not mad. Dainty steps carried her gingerly around the many tomb stones toward him. Was it possible that he might be back to reclaim his Child and his Blood?

He had felt her presence before she had even spoke. His eyes turned towards that familiar scent that was carried on the wind.

"Darkasha." His voice was just as equally soft as hers. Karise couldn't help the smile that tugged at the corners of his mouth, and it was a smile all for her. "I would imagine that I do not appear to be at my best at the given moment." He commented, gesturing down to his dusty and torn frock coat. "And I can also assume that this form of attire is rather out of style."

Karise gave a sheepish grin before moving slowly towards his only Childe.

Kariska,” she repeated, the affectionate name dancing off her lips. She was stately, still, as she moved to him. Her ocher eyes were brilliant, though, and her subdued steps were kept in check only by a lingering disbelief. “How ever…? Ya ne ponimayu,” she murmured, reaching out for him as she came near.

Soft, revitalizing palms cupped his face as she stared up at him. “How have you come back?” she demanded, searching his expression for an explanation. The breeze teased through her copper tresses, presently free and flowing in loose spirals. She shook her head, still utterly shocked by his presence. Her aura, tranquil as it usually was, seemed to overflow with a serenely humming staccato of vitality.

Karise exhaled deeply as he felt her undoubtedly soft skin touch his. For cenrturies he had been dead to the world. Dead to her, but he was back in the scheme of things; as it were, and he wasn't about to take anything for granted this second time around. Or would this be his third? Breathing in Darkasha's familiar scent, he let his arms envelope her slender, lithe frame, pulling it closer to his. Karise burried his face in the wealth of her copper hair and just reveled in the feel of her in his arms again.

How have you come back?” Darkasha demanded, her eyes earching his for some sort of answer.

He only had one. "The Ascention, mon ami. When Draven Ascended, we all did. I can only assume that this is the effect that it has on me. All her Children will Ascend to a greater potential. It is the same with every Sire and their Children."

She leaned into his embrace content to take whatever answer there was to be given. Her Sire had been returned and this was the only thing that mattered. “The Council will be elated to have you back,” she murmured, cheek pressed to his shoulder.

“It has been a struggle without my guide, Kariska,” she said. “Welcome home.”

Darkasha pulled away enough to look him in the eye. “Naturally, you must come to the estate and rest before you do anything else… I demand it. Surely you cannot be in the best of conditions after… so long a time away…” she trailed off, smiling faintly. “And you must have your fill as well. I am, of course, ever at your service,” she added quietly.

It had been ages since last Karise had taken of her veins, and she eagerly offered her blood as his again. Rarely had others been given such. It’s healing properties, more profound than her most tender touch, were given only in the direst of circumstance. The Vitae, though, would be loathe to keep her Sire from such gifts as she had to present.

"The Council." Karise snorted. "The Seat on the Council is yours, Darkasha. My time for such things is over. I have put in my time and will be content to watch you represent our Bloodline."

He smiled when she offered him the chance to rest at the Estate. "No offense, mon ami, towards you generous offer, but I have rested quite enough, don't you? I have never felt better in my entire life...unlife."

Karise kissed her lightly. "However, I will take you up on that offer for sustanace when we are in more...private settings."
